Working with other artists, and pairing up with digital content companies such as Digital Entertainment Asset, Kama Yamamoto aims to foster greater understanding and respect between nations. With the Olympics coming this year, and the eyes of the world on Japan, the World Flags project hopes to familiarize and include the nations of the world into the culture of Japanese Samurai.

The project currently features 80 characters, and updates new characters regularly onto its Twitter page of 15,000 followers. The team behind it have been very open to criticisms, and have changed some characters symbols and skin color in response to online exchanges with fans, to more get a more accurate representation of the characters.

Many have already countries have been honored to be included, including some, such as Mexico and Venezuela, that have framed versions in their Japanese embassies.

I want the project to be acknowledged globally as something that can bring the world together through the Japanese elements of 'anime' and 'samurai
